Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, leader of Businessman Forum, has said that no deal has been brokered in the power tussle of the apex trade body (FPCCI) and the matter was resolved in the supreme interest of the body and business community.
In a press release issued here on Saturday, he brushed aside all rumours of a possible deal and said that he declared support for the incumbent president of FPCCI, Riaz Ahmad Tata, in the Managing Committee meeting and again in the press conference not because a deal was finalised but keeping in view the supreme interest of the business community and FPCCI.
The apex body of the business community was plunged into crisis after the refusal of Riaz Ahmad Tata to resign as per agreement, reached between Businessman Forum and Businessman Panel for the election of president last year, that the remaining one year term would have to be run by Maqsood Ismail.
The crisis was crucial. In such a situation the news of patch-up between both rival groups was a big surprise for not only the business community but for general public as well.
The patch-up was announced in the presence of the leadership of both groups and it was decided that Riaz Tata would complete his two-year term.
