Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi who will lead the squad for the 2016 Twenty20 World Cup, former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz has said that it would be tough for the former to find a place if he is not appointed as the skipper.
Pakistan won the recently concluded T20 series against Zimbabwe; Sarfaraz reacting on his recent performance, Afridi scored just four runs in the recently held two-match T20 series against Zimbabwe.
According to local media report Sarfraz said, “It is the foolishness on part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as they have time and again given chance to Afridi after he has not performed. PCB should not go on ifs and buts hoping that Afridi would perform some day”.
Sarfraz further added that the PCB should stop looking for Afridi to perform well as there are many other players who deserve a chance in the squad.
However, Afridi also performed poorly in the National T20 Cup held at Rawalpindi in September. Reportedly, Sarfraz said a player like Afridi who just performs once in a blue moon cannot be trusted.
