imageLAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Moulana Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Wednesday demanded that a judicial commission should be constituted to probe the lynching of Hafiz Muhammad Naeem by a mob after twin blasts outside churches in Youhannabad last Sunday.

He visited residence of Hafiz Naeem at Mustafabad near here to express grief and sympathy with the bereaved family and strongly condemned the incident.

Talking to the media on the occasion, he said lynching was a barbarism and this case should be sent to a military court like other terrorism cases.

He said the PUC would become a party in this case and will act like Kot-Radhakishan couple lynching case.

Demanding identification of culprits involved in this incident through video footage, he said an exemplary punishment should be awarded to the accused. He said there was no example of such barbarism in which burnt body parts were hanged in chowks.

"We are against killing of anyone by mob," he said and added the PUC supported the justice through courts.

The PUC chairman said on the incident of Kot Radhakishan, 150 Ulemas had visited there, adding the leaders of the Christian community should also visit the residence of the deceased Hafiz Naeem.

He said students, Ulema, members of civil society and other people belonging to various sects, including Shia, Sunni, Brailvi, were being martyred by terrorists but this type of mob violence could increase intolerance in society.

He said the accused involved in bombing outside the churches and those who martyred Hafiz Naeem and Numan Babar should be handed down deterrent punishment.

He said the incident was an act of some miscreants, adding that some elements wanted to create chaos in the country, but Pakistanis were a peaceful nation.

He urged the nation and human rights organizations to play their role to provide justice to the families of victims.

He also offered Fateha for martyred Hafiz Naeem and Numan Babar of Sargodha. PML-N MPA Yaqoob Nadeem Sethi was also present.
