imageLAHORE: The Lahore High Court Complaint Cell on Wednesday took notice of Model Town courts closure by lawyers.

District & Sessions Judge, Lahore has been directed to look into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.

The Cell took notice on news reports wherein it was stated that advocate Naila Farheen Rana, the sister of Lahore Bar Association (LBA) finance secretary Fazyla Farheen Rana, got constructed her chamber along the entrance of the chamber of Judicial Magistrate Zafar Iqbal Sial without getting permission of the administrative authorities.

The chamber was demolished by the Model Town administration assisted by Naseerabad police. On this, a group of lawyers shut down the Model Town Courts by inserting magic solution in the locks in protest against the demolition of the said chamber.

As 13 courts remained locked during the shut down, the judicial work remained suspended for over three hours. However, judges set up makeshift courts outdoors and prisoners were produced before them.

Later, when some of the court staff tried to remove the locks, protesting lawyers threatened them with dire consequences. LBA lawyers also joined the boycott and some representatives called a meeting and demanded the transfer of the Model Town Assistant Commissioner, Naseerabad Station House Officer (SHO) and Judicial Magistrate Sial.

However, Vice President of LBA Model Town Ch. Irfan Riaz Basra settled the issue and got opened the court rooms. Afterwards, a meeting of LBA representatives was conducted to condemn such incidents of locking the court rooms.

LHC Complaint Cell took notice of the news on administrative side and directed the concerned D&SJ to look into the matter and submit report within a week.
