RAWALPINDI: Former Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after cancellation of his bail plea by a Special Court in Hajj Corruption case here on Tuesday. Judge of Special Court (Central) Suhail Nasir dismissed the bail application on the ground that Hamid Saeed Kazmi was directly involved in the Hajj corruption case. FIA officials, who arrested the former minister from the court room, had already submitted an application with the court seeking permission to arrest him for further investigation.

In his application, the former minister pleaded that he was not involved in the corruption in Hajj arrangements and was being dragged into the scandal on political grounds.

In a statement, the former Minister also claimed that allegations levelled against him were false and fabricated.
