DHAKA: Bangladesh's state grains buyer received the lowest offer of $267.10 a tonne C&F liner out in an international tender to purchase 50,000 tonnes of wheat which closed on Monday, sources in the purchasing agency and traders said.

No purchase has yet been reported and the offers are still being considered.

The lowest offer was submitted by trading house J.K International for wheat sourced from either the United States, Canada, Russia or Ukraine, they said.

The liner out price includes shipping, insurance and ship unloading costs.

Three other offers were submitted in the tender, all on the same C&F liner out terms.

Trading house Swiss Singapore Overseas offered $276.00 a tonne for wheat optionally from countries including the United States, Russia, Germany, Argentina or Romania.

Agrocorp International offered $277.38 for wheat from either Russia, the United States, Canada, Romania or Ukraine.

Phoenix Global offered $289.79 for wheat from either Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, elsewhere in the EU or the United States.

All the offers were for the full 50,000 tonnes.

Wheat with 12.5 percent protein content was sought for shipment 40 days after the contract signing and the grain can be supplied from any worldwide origin except Israel.

Bangladesh has been highly active in the international wheat market this year with a large import requirement driving demand.

Bangladesh on Monday also issued a separate tender to buy another 50,000 tonnes of wheat.
