ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Tuesday stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of media and culture between Pakistan and Morocco.

The relations between the two states were underpinned by common faith, historical experiences and cultural similarities, and people of Pakistan felt deep association with the brethren country, he added.

The minister was talking to Ambassador of Morocco Muhammad Karmoune, who called on him here.

He appreciated the Moroccan music and emphasized on the need of exchange of visits of artists and musicians to promote cultural exchanges.

Such visits, he said, could act as a catalyst to bring the people of two brotherly countries even more closer.

The minister also proposed the idea of holding cultural festivals with a view to promote each other's art, artisans and cuisines.

The ambassador apprised the minister about their plan to hold Moroccan cultural festival in Islamabad. The minister assured his full support and reiterated that premises of PNCA and LoK Virsa were open for holding any cultural activity for all embassies including the Moroccan Embassy.

The ambassador hailed the role of Pakistan in 1952 for issuing Pakistani passports to Moroccan people at the time when they were struggling for their right of independence.

He said they would welcome all ideas and initiatives aimed at further consolidating bilateral interactions between the both countries.
