LAHORE: Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar Tuesday said that friendship between Pakistan and China had cemented into lasting relation and eternal bond.

Addressing a reception in connection with the Republic of China Day ceremony here at a local hotel, he said Pakistan and China had set new traditions of friendship on the political and people-to-people contacts level, adding that both the countries had stood the test of time.

The Chinese Counsel General to Lahore Long Dingbin hosted the reception which was attended by Commandant Pakistan Navy War College Raer Admiral Naveed Ahmed Rizvi and Chairman Maoon Foundation Asif sandhaila.

A cake was cut to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Republic of China Day.

Ch Sarwar said CPEC would prove a milestone of progress for Pakistan and other countries in the region, adding that it would open up new vistas of progress and prosperity.

He said China had emerged as an economic and military power under the dynamic leadership of Chinese president XI Jinping.

Later, Pir Pagara called on Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar at the Governor's House and discussed matters of mutual interest besides the current political situation in the country.

Pir Pagara felicitated the Ch Sarwar on his elevation as governor for the second time.

Former Chief Minister Sindh Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, Muhammad Ali Durrani and Zia Rizvi were also present during the meeting.
