ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and President PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz did not believe in the politics of confrontation with institutions.

In an informal talk with media after appearing before an accountability court, he said all political parties would have to get united for flourishing the democracy.

He said any compromise on principles would tantamount to a 'joke' with democracy, adding “just pleasing someone else would also be a joke with democracy.”

During the last four years, he said, the PML-N government did strive to overcome terrorism, and worked hard to end prolonged and unscheduled power load-shedding from the country.

It also brought unprecedented foreign investment under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, increased foreign exchange reserves and restored peace in Karachi, he added.

“Am I being punished for overcoming terrorism, ending load-shedding, bringing CPEC investment, restoring peace in Karachi and making the country a nuclear power?” he questioned.

To a question, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan Peoples’ Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) chairman was criticizing him just to please someone else.

In the past, a National Reconciliation Ordinance was also signed between a dictator and PPP, he added.

He said media should educate the public about difference of policy approach by a dictatorial regime and a civil government with regard to judiciary.
