ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid Thursday said the government was trying its best to resolve public problems at the earliest while the Opposition was only playing up non-issues.
Talking to media in his Chamber in the Parliament, he said the Opposition might boycott the government but play its parliamentary role entrusted to it by the people, as their is no concept of deadlock-like situation in politics and parliamentary system.
He called upon the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah to help end boycott of the Opposition in Senate and expressed government's willingness to accept the demands of the Opposition.
He said that the Interior Minister had not made such a statement in the Senate on which the Opposition had adopted such a course of action and was agitating. "Indeed the Opposition has no issue now."
He said that Opposition could have criticised the government, had it not taked any steps for resolving longstanding problems of the people.
The Infromation Minister requested the Opposition not to boycott the proceedings of the Upper House to avoid the wastage of public money.
The Interior Minister himself said that he was ready to provide the answers of those questions raised by the Opposition in the Senate.
The information minister said that all information to the questions was provided by provincial governments and during that period of time the coalition government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) was ruling the province.
Responding to a question, he said that walk out should be only a token, adding that the Bill on Access to Information was not passed due to the boycott of the Opposition in Senate.
