nawaz_ISLAMABAD: President, PML-N, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday asked all the political parties and stakeholders to devise a national agenda for next 10 to 20 years, in a bid to pull the country out of present crisis.

"No political party could single handedly meet the challenges faced by the nation, so all the parties and stakeholders should sit together to make a bail out plan for the country," he said while addressing a press conference at Punjab House here.

PML-N Chairman, Raja Zafar ul Haq, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Mushahid Ullah Khan, Sardar Mehtab Abbassi and other Party Leaders were present.

Nawaz Sharif said the rules and regulations for the national agenda should be made with the consensus and all the political parties should ensure its implementation in letter and spirit whosoever comes into power after the elections.

He also demanded of the government to constitute a parliamentary committee to look into the unanimous resolution adopted by the All Parties Conference (APC) for onward submission in the Parliament.

"This committee will also ensure implementation of any resolution passed in light of the recommendations of the APC," he added.

The PML-N President made it clear that the entire nation is united on the issue of national security, defence and integrity of the country.

"No one can dare to defeat the determination and courage of a nation of 180 million people," he added.

He appreciated the Prime Minister for taking all the political parties into confidence during this difficult time.

He, however, said the opposition and the parliament is not taken into confidence on several issues being confronted by the country.

Nawaz Sharif said that war on terror was the basic issue which was discussed in the APC but added, this issue has already been discussed in the Parliament in 2009.

A 17-member committee was also constituted after a detailed discussion in the parliament but its recommendations were ignored by the government, he added.

He said after May 2 incident, the joint sitting of the parliament recommended to constitute a commission to probe the Abbottabad incident.

Unfortunately, the resolution of the parliament regarding constitution of commission was put aside, he added.

Nawaz Sharif said, "The US has been declaring us as its strategic partner but now after a loss of 35,000 soldiers, police personnel, innocent men, women and children and destruction as a result of terrorist activities, we are receiving threats," he added.

He also demanded of the government to explain its nature of relations with the US and take the parliament into confidence.

Commenting on the release of Raymond Davis, an American national, he said had the government took a bold stand on this issue, half of the world would have sided with Pakistan.

Responding to a question, he proposed for legislation to break the begging bowl saying, "Our internal weaknesses are affecting our foreign policy."

He also expressed a need to learn from the past mistakes to live honorably in future.

Criticizing the government for unemployment, corruption and economic recession, he said it should improve the governance and performance.

On boycott of APC by some Baloch leaders, he said it is matter of serious concern so that negotiations should be started with them.

Responding to a question, Nawaz Sharif said he was not satisfied over the progress of Abbottabad Commission.
