PTA said that it has approached YouTube to immediately ensure blocking of objectionable content and to prevent the usage of its platform for disseminating such content.
Expressing her views on social media, Aidrus said that banning the video-sharing platform is not the solution, and the previous such decision only resulted in hampering the growth of the country’s content creators.
EU judges, who have followed such opinions in four out of five cases, rule on the issue in the coming months.
As EU law currently stands, online platform operators, such as YouTube and Uploaded, are not directly liable for the illegal uploading of protected works by the users of those platforms.
