The minister said that Pakistan was among the most vulnerable countries facing challenges of climate change and local agricultural sector suffered more from it.
In a bid to build the national consensus on the proposed agricultural growth strategy, Asad Qaiser called for a close scrutiny of the entire strategy, said a press release.
He also urged the provincial governments to continue taking necessary steps to ensure provision of basic items at affordable prices across the country.
The minister also asked for focusing on innovations and modernization of agriculture sector in order to enhance agro-base through value addition of agriculture products that have brighter scope for talented young boys and girls.
He said that mechanism in collaboration with provincial governments would be evolved to check undue price hike and discouraging the nexuses of cartels and hoarders.
Imam said that cotton was one of the major crops of the country and country was striving to exploit the true potential of crop to fulfill its domestic requirements as well as to export.
