The prime minister aid debt relief was one of the quickest ways to create fiscal space for developing countries and referred to his call for “Global Initiative on Debt Relief.
In a speech to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) today, Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke on the lack of financial accountability to prevent international white collar crimes, the challenges of climate change, Pakistan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of Islamophobia, the authoritarian tendencies of the Modi government, and the repression of Kashmiris.
The prime minister said provision of high standard health facilities to the people particularly weaker segments of the society was the government's top priority.
Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that “Each year billions of dollars illicitly flow out of developing countries. My government came with a robust public mandate to get rid of this menace from our country”, arguing that a multilateral framework of international cooperation would be required to “bring the perpetrators of financial crimes to justice”.
The prime minister also directed the Board of Investment chairman to ensure all possible facilities to foreign investors who were keen to invest in different sectors of the country.
