KARACHI: Music’s highest honor the Grammy award nominations for 2013 have been announced, with male artists leading in all major categories and surprisingly few female nominations.

 

According to media sources, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Fun., Frank Ocean, Mumford and Sons, the Black Keys have received six nominations each. Singers Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson are up for three nominations each. Adele, who won in all six categories in 2012, has secured only one nomination in “Best Pop Solo Performance” for “Set Fire to The Rain.”

 

Record of the Year went to Taylor Swift “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, Gotye feat. Kimbra “Somebody I used To Know”, fun. featuring Janelle Monae “We are Young”, Frank Ocean “Thinkin Bout You”, Kelly Clarkson “Stronger” and The Black Keys “The Lonely Boy.”

 

Album of the Year again sees the return of The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Fun. including Mumford and Sons and Jack White.

 

Kanye West and Jay-Z mainly scored nominations in Best Rap, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song categories adding Best Short Form Music Video for West. Rihanna has thus far received nominations for “Talk That Talk” and “Where Have You Been” which have been hugely popular amongst listeners.

The awards ceremony will be a live telecast event in L.A on 10th February, 2013.
