J-LO-finalKARACHI: The former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez has advised her successor Mariah Carey to “speak from the heart” and be honest with contestants on the show.

Lopez has recently left the show after two seasons as a judge.

“So long as she’s honest and speaks from the heart and just is herself, I think she’ll be fine,’ Lopez talked about Carey.

While recalling her judging experience, the singer-and-actress said that one has to be honest and relaxed.

“I always kind of just spoke right from the heart, and how I would want someone to speak to me if I was in that position. It’s just about being relaxed and being honest, and being yourself. If you try and think too much about what people might think or what you’re saying too much, I think you get lost,” she added.

The 43-year-old singer has sold over 11.8 million albums in the United States and over 70 million records worldwide.
