Pakistan’s limited overs captain Babar Azam has said his primary role in the side is batting but also keen on improving his English.

It must be noted that Babar came under radar of former Test cricketer Tanvir Ahmed, who thinks that the limited overs skipper needs to improve his personality and command over the English language being the leader of the side.

“Batting is my primary role and I’m focused on that but I’m also working on improving my English,” said Babar, while responding to a question on Tanvir’s statement, during a teleconference.

The right-hander was also optimistic about the team’s future in limited-overs formats.

“It is an honour for me to captain Pakistan in ODIs as well,” he said. “I take advice from Misbah bhai and senior players with regards to captaincy. It is not easy to lead Pakistan side but I will try my best to ensure the team produces good results in ODI and T20I cricket.”

“I believe in attacking captaincy like Imran Khan,” he added.

The 25-year-old also talked about the challenging England tour while ruing the fact that matches will be played behind closed doors.

“Touring England won’t be easy. Health and safety of players is of great importance and the tour will only be possible when proper arrangements are in place,” he said. “Both England and Pakistan team fans, along with the cricketers, are missing cricket because of the pandemic.”

“We will still try to perform to the best of our ability despite no support from the fans in the stadium,” he added.
