The Karachi Port handled 99,145 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,458 tonnes of import cargo and 32,687 tonnes of export cargo including 6,280 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 66,458 tonnes comprised of 50,341 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,059 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,736 tonnes of chemical and 9,322 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 32,687 tonnes comprised of 32,387 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,280 containers comprising of 3,818 containers of import and 2,462 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 919 of 20's and 1,324 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 118 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 789 of 20's and 585 of 40's loaded containers while 77 of 20's and 213 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Berlin Express, Ginga Cheetah and Alpine Persefone carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Botany Bay, Folegandros, Al Shaffiah, Paris Express, Diyala, Jeil Crystal and Aramis carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Folegandros carrying containers expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are two vessels viz. APL Gwang Yang and Gloria Confidence carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four more vessels viz. Cosco Africa, MOL Generosity, River Globe and Da Cai Yun

carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 103,588 tonnes comprising of 69,623 tonnes of import cargo and 33,965 tonnes of export cargo including 3,375 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 69,623 tonnes includes 9,234 tonnes of coal; 4,662 tonnes of mogas; 5,498 tonnes of palm oil; 11,220 tonnes of soyabean; 2,828 tonnes of general cargo; 5,477 tonnes of LPG and 30,704 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,965 tonnes includes 544 tonnes of rice and 33,421 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,375 containers comprising of 1,616 containers import and 1,759 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Galini carrying coal sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Gas Athena and Glory Harvest carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Acadia Park, Tisntao Express, MOL Generosity, Greenwich Park, SSI Victory, Kazak, Flag Filia, Gant Muse, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, White Purl, Gas Arma, Celia, Gas Amazon, Tomson Gas and Onaiza carrying containers, chemical, coal, soyabean, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MOL Generosity, SSI Victory, Greemwich Park and White Purl carrying containers, coal, chemical and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There is one ship namely Tsing Tao carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
