The Karachi Port handled 128,948 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,620 tonnes of import cargo and 28,328 tonnes of export cargo including 7,384 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 100,620 tonnes comprised of 66,784 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,062 tonnes of canola; 6,661 tonnes of rock phosphate and 26,113 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 28,328 tonnes comprised of 19,702 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,626 tonnes of clinkers and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,384 containers comprising of 4,940 containers of import and 2,444 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,285 of 20's and 1,673 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 149 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 494 of 20's and 301 of 40's loaded containers while 192 of 20's and 578 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely KMTC Mumbai carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Cosco Belgium, OOCL Chicago, Coral Star, Ever Ursula, Right Hero and Grace carrying containers, rock phosphate and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Osaka Star and Zhen Hua-28 carrying canola and general cargo expected to sail on Wednesday.

There is one vessel viz. Baltic Bridge carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while two more vessels viz. MOL Grandeur and Cosco Europe carrying containers are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 162,720 tonnes comprising of 128,769 tonnes of import cargo and 33,951 tonnes of export cargo including 3,254 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 128,769 tonnes includes 28,839 tonnes of coal; 47,917 tonnes of LNG; 7,500 tonnes of palm oil; 7,500 tonnes of soyabean; 4,238 tonnes of LPG and 32,775 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,951 tonnes includes 4,900 tonnes of cement and 29,051 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,254 containers comprising of 1,725 containers import and 1,529 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MSC Ajaccio carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Pacific Advance and Epic Salina carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Kyota Express, Maersk Brooklyn, MOL Grander, ML Swallow, African Spoonbill, Star Topaz, White Purl, Glory Harvest, Nardic Anny, Sun Dora, Autaurus and Prosperity carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. MOL Grandeur, ML Swallow and Sun Dora carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are no ships due to arrive on Wednesday.
