The Karachi Port handled 161,504 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,355 tonnes of import cargo and 61,149 tonnes of export cargo including 2,600 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 100,355 tonnes comprised of 66,912 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,648 tonnes of bulk cargo and 21,795 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 61,149 tonnes comprised of 57,099 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,600 containers comprising of 522 containers of import and 2,078 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 135 of 20's and 55 of 40's loaded while 57 of 20's and 110 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 781 of 20's and 362 of 40's loaded containers while 133 of 20's and 220 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Cosco Taicang, Cosco Hong Kong, Northern Discovery, Hyundai Vancouver, Diyala, Charlotte Schulte, Finola and V Arctic Tern carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. Polo, Charlotte Schulte, Cosco Hong Kong, Diyala, Ginga Lynx, Bow Flower, Oriental Rose, Sarwar Jahan and V Arctic Tern carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely MT Khairpur carrying mogas expected to sail on Tuesday. There are four vessels viz. Wieland, Telemann, DS Cougar and Beijing Venture carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another vessel viz. CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 184,402 tonnes comprising of 122,573 tonnes of import cargo and 61,829 tonnes of export cargo including 4,820 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 122,573 tonnes includes 84,000 tonnes of coal; 2,000 tonnes of soyabean; 1,124 tonnes of palm kernel; 698 tonnes of LPG and 34,751 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 61,829 tonnes includes 5,000 tonnes of condensate and 56,829 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,820 containers comprising of 1,829 containers import and 2,991 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely Cosco Japan and Jeppesen Maersk carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely CL Heidi, Vantage Dream and Jag Lyoil carrying coal, palm kernel and crude oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. MOL Courage, MSC Marianna, Diyala, Ashiya Star, Universal Bremen, Sider Tis, Nemea, Serene Amelia, Star Topaz, Lyric Poet, True Friend, Kazak, Gas Zeus and Nardic Anny carrying containers, steel coils, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Marianna, MSC Letizia, Ashiya Star, Sider Tis, Serene Amelia and Kazak carrying containers, steel coil, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Monday. There was one ship namely MSC Letizia carrying containers due to arrive on Monday.
