Lockdown strategy yielded positive results: Buzdar

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Bhakkar on Wednesday to review the steps being taken for safety from locust.

The CM was told that 20 thousands acre land came under locusts attack and the locusts swarms have been destroyed through spray and necessary precautionary measures over an area 17 thousands of land. It was informed that affected area will be sprayed through a specific design vehicle and directed to start the spray adding that all the necessary resources be utilized for this purpose. Spray will be continued till the complete removal of locusts, he added. The DC briefed CM that Pakistan Army Jawans and districts administration are engaged in anti-locusts activities.

The CM also visited Dhanghana area in Mankira Tehsil and drives his vehicle from Dhanghana to Rakh Mahni. He also met with the local people who apprised the chief minister about their problems.

The chief minister also visited camel breading and research station. Parliamentarian including Sanaullah Mastikhel, Ghazenfar Abbas Cheema, Amir Muhammad Khan, Saeed Akbar Norani, Amir Anayat Shehani and Afzal Khan also called on the chief minister.

Moreover, in a meeting the CM was told that field hospitals have been set up in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and other districts with a total capacity of 4500 beds, which could also be increased to 10,000 beds.

The lockdown strategy has yielded positive results and the construction industry was being restarted under specific SOPs. The construction of roads, hospitals and schools will be resumed in the first phase with some stipulations while the resumption of different industries will be reviewed on a case-to-case basis, he added.
