Nishat resumes textile production in Pakistan, after government relaxation

Nishat Mills Limited has joined the string of textile mills in the country to resume their operations after the company informed that it is partially resuming production activities.

“In view of the relaxation allowed to the textile industry from the current situation of lockdown due to COVID-19, by the authorities, Nishat Mills Limited has resumed partially its production activities/ operations,” read a filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.

A number of textile mills have resumed their operations in the country, after relaxation provided by the government to the country’s largest industrial sector. Kohat Textile Mills Limited, Masood Textile Mills Limited, and Saif Textile Mills Limited have previously announced to resume production activity.

Meanwhile, this is not the case with oil refineries in the country after National Refinery Limited announced that it is extending its shutdown duration.

“Pursuant to the extended lockdown situation and reduced demand for petroleum products, the company has decided to continue with the temporary shutdown of production till the situation improves,” the company said in a statement.

Automobile assembler Atlas Honda has also announce to close its operat6ions till April 14.

“In continuation of our letter dated Mar 27, 2020 and to comply with the directives of the Punjab Government relating to outbreak of COVID-19, the company, its plant operations and regional offices shall further be closed till April 14, 2020. The company fully supports the efforts of the Government to contain the spread of this pandemic for the safety of all.

Earlier, DG Khan Cement Company Limited and Philip Morris Pakistan Limited announced to resume their operations, after relaxation from the government.
