  • England batsman was part of Karachi Kings squad in HBL PSL 2020.
  • He played seven games for the Kings and scored 239 runs.

Karachi Kings batsman Alex Hales has reportedly shown symptoms of the coronavirus upon his return to London after taking part in the recently postponed Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020, according to former captain Ramiz Raja.

Alex Hales played seven matches for Karachi Kings in this year’s Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) before leaving the country amid coronavirus concern.

While talking to media in Lahore Raja said that Hales may have contracted the virus, hinting that that necessitated the need for the league's postponement earlier in the day.

Ramiz Raja said, “All broadcasters, franchise and others involved in the PSL will be undergoing coronavirus scanning, as news is coming right now that may be Alex Hales is having symptoms and is undergoing tests.”

“It was unfortunate, the decision have been made,” said Raja referring to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s decision to postpone the tournament.

He urged the nation to take precautionary measures and quarantine themselves for 14 days at home to avoid coronavirus.

Later, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan said an overseas player developed symptoms of the virus and already left the country. He did not disclosed the identity of the player and termed it the reason being postponing the even.

"An overseas player who had the symptoms has already left Pakistan," Wasim said. "The PSL 2020 was postponed due to this development," he added.

Hales during his runs in the competition this year scored 239 runs at an average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 156.20 with two half-centuries for the Kings. His highest scored was 80 not out.

The Englishman tweeted before departing for England: “Not the way I envisaged my PSL to come to an end, but I want to thank all of the Karachi Kings family and the whole of Pakistan for a really enjoyable month. Hopefully we can lift the trophy on Wednesday and I look forward to coming back next year, fingers crossed!”
