On the joyous and auspicious occasion of His Majesty the Emperor's 60th birthday, I extend my sincere greetings to emperor Naruhito whose birthday is being celebrated as emperor for the first time. He is 126th emperor of Japan and my felicitations to the people of Japan in nurturing the tradition of monarchy for thousands of years and being amongst the selected few countries.

With the ascendancy of the emperor Naruhito to the throne, new imperial era called "REIWA" has begun which heralds a new era of peace and harmony.

The goodwill between the people of Pakistan and japan is genuine, profound and enduring. It has withstood the test of time. It is now to be embellished with stronger commercial and cultural ties to become indelible in the trajectory of both the countries.

Pakistan Japan Business Forum which was formed in 2001 with active patronage of the Ambassador of Japan at the time, has been actively working to facilitate encourage, promote business and friendly relationship between industrial and business communities of Pakistan and Japan.

Much needs to be done to further those objectives. Currently there are only 85 Japanese companies operating in Pakistan. This is a much lower number than in other major South Asian countries and, I hope both governments will recognize the hurdles inhibiting greater involvement of the private sectors of both the countries and will ameliorate the situation to mutual benefit.

I pray for their Majesties long life and greater friendship between the people of the two countries.
