Pakistan is going to host Kabaddi World Cup from February 9-16, 2020 this year for which brisk arrangements continue on the part of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation in which top teams from 10 countries of the world will take part.

Pakistan is hosting the Kabaddi World Cup (Circle Style) for the very first time and it carries attractive cash prize of Rs. 10 million for the winners, Rs. 7.5 million for runners-up team and Rs. 5 million for third position holder.

This was stated by former international Kabaddi player Syed Sultan Shah while talking to media men here on Thursday. He lauded the efforts of the chief of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Secretary General Rana Sarwar for their dedicated efforts in bringing international Kabaddi event to Pakistan.

He disclosed that the matches of the tournament will take place in Lahore, Faislabad, Kartarpur and Nankana Sahib, while the final will be held in Lahore.

He also urged upon Senior Minister Muhammad Atif Khan to talk to Pakistan Kabaddi Federation management for holding some of the matches of the World Cup in Qayyum Sports Complex Peshawar.

He said teams from Pakistan, India, Iran, Canada, Australia, United States, Sierra Leone, and Kenya had qualified for the event so far. The Kabaddi World Cup will be played in the circle style format. Pakistan will be hosting the 2020 edition of the circle style Kabaddi World Cup. India had hosted all six circle style World Cups so far, with the last one taking place in 2016.

He said, India is also among ten nations expected to be part of the event. "India has already showed its willingness and will be part of the competitions. Its visa process has begun," said Sarwar, also secretary of Asian Kabaddi Federation (AKF).

The ten nations will be bracketed in two groups with the leading two sides from each pool qualifying for the semi-finals. Pakistan's team is confident of winning the World Cup, Syed Sultan Shah said with former international players Haji Farooq, Lal Mohammad Khan, Hakim Khan, Abid, Malang Jan, Dil Nawaz were also present.
