The Karachi Port handled 96,974 tonnes of cargo comprising 56,673 tonnes of import cargo and 40,301 tonnes of export cargo including 4,244 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 56,673 tonnes comprised of 41,038 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,328 tonnes of fertilizer bulk cargo and 13,307 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 40,301 tonnes comprised of 16,951 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23,350 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,244 containers comprising of 3,149 containers of import and 1,095 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 351 of 20's and 1,219 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 177 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 419 of 20's and 338 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely GSL Manet, Ever Deluxe, Al Safa, MT Khairpur and Etisalat carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Coral Star, X-Press Annapurna, MT Lahore and San Sebastian carrying containers, oil tanker and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 64,582 tonnes comprising 64,582 tonnes of import cargo and nil tonnes of export cargo including nil loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 64,582 tonnes includes 25,417 tonnes of LNG; 1,350 tonnes of LPG; 23,000 tonnes of coal; 2,438 tonnes of chemical; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean; 2,877 tonnes of general cargo and nil tonnes of containerised cargo.

There were two ships namely Han Ren and Tiger Winter carrying general cargo and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning. A total number of six ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soysbean, LPG and LNG respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. Agamemnon, CSAV Tyndall, Captain Pegglizos, Pedhoulas Cherry, Reemo, NH Siri and Rong Lin Wan carrying containers, soyabean, canola, rice, mogas and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Agamemnon, CSAV Tyndall and Al-Jassiyah carrying containers and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Atlantic and Al-Jassiyah carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
