After crossing $1 billion worldwide, Joaquin Phoenix might reprise his role as Joker in it sequel as a second part of the movie is reportedly in works with Todd Phillips in talks to return as director.

Talk for a sequel has been rife since the film’s critically acclaimed premiere at the Venice film festival in August. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips is negotiating with the studio to return for a 'Joker' sequel, and he is likely to reteam with star Phoenix to continue exploring the creation of DC’s most famous villain.

Phillips has urged that the film was made without a sequel in mind, but he recently told The Los Angeles Times that if he were to make one, it would have to have some thematic resonance.

Though Warner Bros. has not responded to any rumours as yet but fans are excited to see Phoenix reprising his role as Batman's nemesis.

‘Joker’ is Warner Bros.' fourth DC superhero movie to gross $1 billion worldwide, following 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’, 2012's ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and last year's ‘Aquaman’.
