  • This will be first royal tour to Pakistan since 2006.
  • The visit has been organised at request of United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
  • The couple look forward to build a lasting friendship with Pakistan.

After kicking off their engagements with a visit to the Government Girls College and Margala Hills, Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton concluded their morning and met Prime Minister Imran Khan.

They were received by the PM at the Prime Minister House. Prior to their meeting, the duke and duchess also met President Arif Alvi and his wife Samina Arif.

Later in the evening, the couple will attend a reception hosted by British High Commissioner Thomas Drew at the National Monument in Islamabad.

Earlier, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Islamabad Model College for Girls in Islamabad and mingled with the students and children. The royal couple also visited Margalla Hills National Park where they set a leopard camera trap with children.

On Monday evening, the duke and duchess arrived on their first visit to Pakistan. This will be the first royal tour to Pakistan since 2006 when Prince Charles and Camilla, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, travelled to the country.

The royal couple was welcomed by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his wife at the Nur Khan Airbase. British high commissioner was also present on the occasion. The five-day visit of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has been organised at the request of the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The Duke and Duchess’s visit to Pakistan will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan. And will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation,  Drew said.

An official handout from Kensington Palace stated that during their time in Pakistan, the royal couple will visit Islamabad, Lahore, Gilgit-Baltistan and rugged border regions to the west.
