  • Pakistan to soon announce squad for Australian tour after the first round of National T20 Cup.
  • Top performers at National T20 Cup will also be given the chance.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has been named captain of the T20 team for the upcoming tour of Australia that will commence next month, while middle order batsman Azhar Ali is expected to be given Test captaincy for the upcoming two Test matches in Australia.

As per reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the cricketing management has shown confidence in Sarfaraz’s leadership in the limited overs format, despite Pakistan’s poor show in recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, it is also learnt that Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal would not be part of Pakistan squad after the duo failed to live up to expectations in their comeback series against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, veteran players Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez’s return is subject to their performance in the upcoming National T20 Cup, meanwhile prominent performers in the tournament will also be given the opportunity.

Pakistan will announce squad for Australia tour after the first round of National T20 Cup, which is scheduled to commence from October 13 at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.

After a disappointing performance in the T20I series against the Islanders, Pakistan will now face the mighty Australia Down Under.
