The Pakistan Army has dismissed three of its majors from service after they were found guilty of indiscipline and being involved in illegal activities.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement on Friday and announced the dismissal of the majors. "Upon being found guilty of the charges levelled against them, all three have been dismissed from service while two have also been awarded rigorous imprisonment for two years each," the ISPR said.

The statement further said that charges included misuse of authority and involvement in illegal activities 'unbecoming of an officer', local media reported.

Earlier, a doctor associated with a sensitive organisation had also been handed down capital punishment on charges of espionage and leaking sensitive information to foreign agencies. Similarly, a three-star retired general had been sentenced to 14 years in jail and a retired brigadier awarded the death sentence by field general courts-martial on similar charges.
