Pakistan U19 team is drilling hard these days, as the team aims to bring tier best show in the upcoming   at the Under-19 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament to be held in Sri Lanka next month.

“The work that we have done with them for the past three four months is evident from the past two series, however, there are loopholes remaining to be fixed,” said Pakistan U19 team manager and coach Azam Khan, at the ACC Asia Cup U19 bound camp at Hanif Mohammad High Performance Center, Karachi.

“This is a tournament and there is a different scenario in these types of games. Our focus however, is to develop these players and prepare them for the next level,” added Khan.

Some eight teams are participating in the tournament, with teams divided into two groups. The traditional rivals Pakistan and India are in the same group (Group A) alongside Afghanistan and Kuwait. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE and Nepal are in Group B.

The U19 coach expressed confidence that the side would play to the best of their abilities in the tournament.

Pakistan will play its first match of the tournament against Afghanistan on September 5. Meanwhile, the archrivals Pakistan and India will compete on September 7. Pakistan will play their last match on September 9 against Kuwait.

The tournament is scheduled to commence form September 5 and with the finals to be held on September 14.

Rohail Nazir (Islamabad) (captain, wicketkeeper), Haider Ali (Rawalpindi) (vice-captain), Aamir Ali (Larkana), Abu Huraira (DM Jamali), Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (Quetta), Akhtar Shah (Quetta), Fahad Munir (Lahore), Mohammad Aamir (Peshawar), Mohammad Abbas Afridi (FATA), Mohammad Basit Ali (Multan), Mohammad Haris (Peshawar), Mohammad Irfan Khan (Faisalabad), Mohammad Wasim JR (FATA), Naseem Shah (Lahore) and Qasim Akram (Lahore).
