Shoaib Akhtar wants everyone ‘not to further aggravate’ Indo-Pak tension

Pakistan's former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has urged his fans on both sides of the border ‘not to aggravate the tension’ amid escalating agitation between Pakistan and India.

“I accept that our situation is bad, and I also accept that you love your country and we love ours, but we should not become a reason for more hatred. Despite the situation due to the Kashmir issue, we should not give any statement or action that aggravates the tension further,” said Akhtar in a video message on his YouTube channel.

“You should stand your ground and stick to your beliefs but refrain from inciting the situation,” he added, while sharing the time he spent with the Indian cricketers.

The two countries are regularly exchanging fire and fiery statements on daily basis, this comes after the Indian government just days ago announced to scrap away the Article 370 in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) raising alarm bells in the region. The government of Pakistan responded by cutting off all trade and cultural ties with the arch rivals.

Earlier, PM Imran Khan slammed the Modi led Indian government, terming it a Hindu supremacist government that posed a threat to Pakistan as well as to the minorities in India and in fact to the very fabric of Nehru and Gandhi’s India.
