Germany's Siemens will supply and install equipment for two converter stations as part of the Viking Link project, Britain's National Grid and Energinet of Denmark announced on Tuesday.
The Siemens contracts have a combined value of 1.1 billion euros ($1.23 billion), National Grid said in a statement http://media.nationalgrid.com/press-releases/uk-press-releases/corporate-news/national-grid-and-energinet-name-suppliers-for-uk-s-first-ever-power-cable-to-denmark.
The two converter stations will be built in Lincolnshire, England, and Revsing, Denmark.
Viking Link will be the first subsea electricity inter-connector between Britain and Denmark and have the capacity to power 1.5 million homes.
