Confident Pakistan eager to take on defending champions

Expressing disappointment after his side’s encounter with Sri Lanka on Friday got washed out due to rain, Pakistan

Expressing disappointment after his side’s encounter with Sri Lanka on Friday got washed out due to rain, Pakistan cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that the team will now concentrate on their next encounter with Australia.

"As a team, we really wanted to play this match especially after gaining momentum with the win against England," said Sarfaraz quoted ICC. "It is unfortunate that we were not able to play. We have great team spirit and our confidence is on a high after beating England. We would want to carry the momentum into the remaining games. We won't relax in our remaining six matches."

With three games and three points under the belt, the Men in Green would next face defending champions Australia on Wednesday. The Pakistani skipper admitted that Australia was a ‘tough opponent.’

"They also have momentum as they have won their first two matches."

Before facing Pakistan at Taunton, Australia face India at The Oval on Sunday. "We have a few days now to prepare for the match and we will try to prepare at our best to enter the field as well as we can," he said.
