Seeking exemption of his client from court appearance, Shehbaz Sharif's lawyer informed the accountability court on Saturday that his client's medical condition cannot be treated in Pakistan.

During the hearing of the Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing Scheme cases today, the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz appeared before the court, whereas his father did not attend proceedings as he abroad.

Shehbaz's lawyer requested the court to grant his client a two-week exemption in the case. Judge Jawwad-ul-Hassan inquired the opposition leader's lawyer whether his client's treatment was possible in Pakistan.   The lawyer told the court that his client condition cannot be treated in the country.

The judge directed the lawyer that Sharif must appear before the next hearing. The court then adjourned the  hearing of both the cases till May 28, local media reported.

Sharif is in London after getting bail. On Friday, the National Accountability Bureau had approached the Supreme Court requesting it to place the PML-N president's name on the Exit Control List.
