LAHORE: Private sector was sharing the economic burden of the government by playing an active role in social sector and it can do more if the government takes businessmen on board.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir expressed these views at inaugural ceremony of a new wing 'Inam Tasneem Waheed' here at Hijaz Hospital on Wednesday.

The wing, built with a cost of Rs 4.5 million, would provide state-of-the-art facilities of OPD and Dialyses.

He said that Lahore Chamber was not only playing a leading role for the promotion of trade and industry but also quite active in the social sector. Lahore Chamber was also performing its social and moral obligations in a winsome manner, he claimed.

LCCI Vice President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigal, who is also board member of Hijaz Hospital Trust (HHT), said that businessmen were not only performing their national obligations by paying taxes to the government but also spending a large amount on provision of modern medical facilities to the ailing humanity. He claimed that Hijaz Hospital Trust was one of the most shining examples of private sector's commitment to the humanity, adding that good collaboration between government and private sectors was solution to all problems whether it was economic or social.

The HHT Chairperson Tasneem Waheed said that expansion of the hospital would ensure healthcare facilities to more people. She said that patient safety, quality care and satisfaction, sanitation and hygiene and maintenance of public trust was the objective of this project.

Participants in the inaugural ceremony visited various wards and departments of the hospital.
