Praising his former teammate and Pakistan’s medium pacer Mohammad Abbas, Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif has said that Abbas should be included in the side’s ICC’s World Cup 2019 squad.

“Abbas was always a keen learner of the game, which has helped him in performing in Test cricket” he said, quoted local media. “He should be part of the World Cup squad, as his bowling will benefit Pakistan in England.”

Asif was also hopeful to grab a place into the fifth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled to take place next year. “I have continued my practice to keep myself fit for the next season. I have keenly followed the PSL this season, and hope to be a part of it next season,” he said.

The fast bowler known around the cricketing world for his ability to swing the new ball was of the view that that the Pakistani cricket team should not introduce T20 bowlers straight into Test cricket, as the quality of bowing has gone down, he opined.

Asif at his prime was one of the best bowlers in the cricketing world, however, his international cricketing days came to an unfortunate halt after he was found involved in the infamous 2010 spot fixing scandal, alongside then Pakistan's captain Salman Butt and fellow fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
