PESHAWAR: A meeting of the Energy and Power Department here Thursday reviewed annual development plan of the department and obtained briefing on 46 different hydropower projects underway in the Khyber Pakthunkhwa province.

Advisor to the chief minister on Power and Energy Hamayatullah Khan chaired the meeting which was also attended by secretary energy and power Engr Sarfaraz Durrani, Additional Secretary Zafarul Islam, Chief Executive Officer PEDO, Zainullah Khan, General Manager Bahadar Shah and Project Directors of hydropower projects.

The meeting held detailed deliberations on 46 hydropower projects including 35 ongoing and 11 new projects.

The PEDO chief briefed the meeting in details about expenditure and generation capacity of the projects which included hydropower projects Shangla, Growcan Hydropower Project Swat, 40MW hydropower project Lower Dir, 69MW under construction project Chitral and some projects in Mansehra.

The advisor Hayatullah Khan said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was completing electricity and energy projects on fast track and therefore no leniency would be tolerated in this regard.

Secretary Energy and Power Engr Sarfarz said monitoring and evolution system would be further strengthened so that performance on various projects could easily ascertained.
