Aleem Khan hits out at NAB as court sends him on 10-day physical remand

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was granted on Friday a 10-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Leader Aleem Khan in the case of owing assets beyond source of income.

During the hearing, Khan said that his name was not listed in the Panama Papers and he has not been involved in any corruption. He said he was being accused of corruption owing to the new documents which he had submitted, local media reported. He asked where was NAB sleeping for so many years and that NAB was lying in front of the accountability court.

The PTI leader was presented before the court amid strict security. A large number of Khan’s supporters were gathered outside the court premises and also tried to enter inside the premises.

Khan was arrested on February 6 by the bureau outside the accountability bureau in Lahore. Since then he has been in NAB's custody who had been granted a nine-day physical remand of Khan.

NAB had alleged that the PTI leader has established multiple companies in UAE and Britain. The bureau said that it was further probing into these companies. Following his arrest by NAB, Khan had tendered his resignation.
