PCB chairman hopeful of England visiting Pakistan in 2022

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani is optimistic that the England cricket team will be touring Pakistan in the next home series in 2022, as the PCB chief is scheduled to meet the England Cricket Board (ECB) in Dubai in coming weeks.

“I expect England will be totally open discussing it further, but there’s a whole process they have to go through,” Ehsan Mani told Telegraph Sport. “When we play our next home series against England, they’ll have sufficient time to carry out their own assessment. I would never ever consider inviting someone unless it was absolutely safe for them,” he added.

Pakistan is scheduled to take on England in a home series in 2022 and the PCB aims that the series takes place in the country rather than on a neutral venue.

Meanwhile, the upcoming PCB and ECB meetings are set to open a dialogue about a tour rather than being a formal invitation. “They will carry out their own assessments. We’ll talk to them about any concerns they have, if any, and how we can deal with those, before any formal invitations go out. Everyone has to be comfortable,” said Mani.

Earlier, PCB’s attempt to woo Australian cricket team to tour Pakistan failed after the cricket authorities were forced to schedule all five one-day internationals against Australia in the United Arab Emirates after the Aussies refused to visit the Asian country over security fears.
