Prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, spices, sugar, flour except pulses, fruits have dropped in retail market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. A downward trend in prices of tomatoes, ginger, garlic, onion was witnessed, giving a sign of relief to inflation hit-masses.
According to the survey, price of tomato has dived in at Rs 40 per kilogramme that was at Rs 100 per kilogramme in last week. Similarly, ginger price has decreased at Rs 400 per kilogramme from Rs 500 per kilogramme in local market. Likewise, garlic was available at Rs 200 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 350 per kilogramme, showing a decrease of Rs 150 per kilogramme.
Onion is being sold at Rs 40 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 80 per kilogramme in the previous week. Green chili is being available at Rs 100 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 150 per kilogramme a few days back. Lemon is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogramme. A nominal decrease in prices of other veggies was also noticed as red-potato is being sold at Rs 50 per kilogramme which was available at Rs 80 per kilogramme in the previous week, while white-potatoes are being sold at Rs 30 per kilogramme in local market.
However, prices of capsicum, arvi and peas are still go sky-high in local market, as available at Rs 120, Rs 80 and 150 per kilogramme respectively. Bitter gourd is being available at Rs 80 per kilogramme, bringle at Rs 50-60 per kilogramme, apple ground, round are being sold within ragne of Rs 50-60 per kg which was selling at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme a few days back.
Fruits are staple food, which had become costlier and complete reach out from purchasing power of common man. As per survey, apples are being sold at Rs 140-150 per kg, peach at Rs 120 per kilogramme, mangoes within range of Rs 80 and Rs 100, apricot at Rs 150-160 per kilogramme, banana at Rs 70-80 per dozen, black-coloured plums at Rs 100-120 per kg, grapes are being sold at Rs 200 per kilogramme, mukesh melon was being sold at Rs 150-200 per piece with different size and guava was available at Rs 80-100 per kilogrmame.
A slight decrease in prices of spices was witnessed which had exorbitantly increased by local shopkeepers due increase their demand on the last Eid-ul-Azha. Sugar is being sold at Rs 70-75 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 85-90 per kilogramme during the Eid holidays. Gram flour (baisen) was available at Rs 140 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 120 per kilogrmame in the retail market.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 130 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 90 per litre. Yogurt was available at Rs 120 per kilogramme against the official fixed rate of Rs 80 per kg in local market. The survey witnessed the prices of pulses/food grains were remained unchanged in the retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed. It was noted that good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 140-150 per kilogramme, while toota rice was available at Rs 75-80 per kilogramme. Dal mash is being sold at Rs 170 and Rs 190 per kg, dal channa was available at Rs 130-140 per kg, white lobiya at Rs 130 and Rs 140 per kilogramme, red-bean at Rs 130-140 per kg.
The price big-size white channa was Rs 140 and Rs 160 per kilogramme, while dal chilka (green) was being sold at Rs 140 and Dal Chilka (Black) being sold at Rs 130 per kilogramme. Moonge was available at Rs 140 per kilogramme. Dholi dal is being sold at Rs 160. According the survey, the price of cooking oil/ghee were remained high-side in the retail market as available within range of Rs 170 and Rs 180 per litre/kg, and Rs 190 and Rs 200 per litre/kg.
