A complete shutdown of LPG retails network observed on Friday in Karachi on appeal of All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association and Karachi Action Committee. All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association senior vice chairman Muhammad Ali Haider said the strike was called due to unannounced crackdown by police on the LPG retail outlets.
The deliveries from all the LPG storage and filling plants remained suspended in Karachi. The association alleged that police has started an unannounced crackdown against the LPG retailers for the last one week prompting the dealers shut down their businesses.
The strike may prolong for another two or three days. The Commissioner Karachi has appointed Deputy Commissioner-South to conduct the meeting with LPG dealers to sort out the issues at earliest.
Haider said a committee is being formed with the district management, Civil Defence, and Association to make sure the safety compliance on all the LPG retail outlets till then there will be no crackdown.
