Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir has not been at his lethal since his last epic performance in the Champions Trophy way back last year.

With many pundits saying that lack of swing has made Amir far less of a threat to top teams, former captain Rashid Latif says that Amir should have played domestic cricket more and not have been picked for the South Africa tour.

“He should have played more domestic cricket, and may be introduced later, but he shouldn’t have been picked for the South Africa tour. A lot of work needs to be done over Amir, he is missing the pace and swing that needs to be worked on at the National Cricket Academy. This could bring in improvement, if there are no improvements, than Pakistan has a number of such bowlers who can replace him,” said Latif, while speaking at Caught Behind.

Amir went wicketless in six ODIs straight before he claimed one wicket in the fourth ODI against the Proteas. In his last 10 ODI appearances, Amir only accounted for three scalps.
