Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to chief minister Sindh, chief secretary Sindh, Public Service Commission over appointment of Abida Parveen Pathan as Registrar of Environmental Tribunal. SHC bench issued the notices on a petition by Farhat Advocate, who moved the court against the appointment of Abida Parveen Pathan as Registrar Environmental Tribunal by alleging that she attached fake documents as well as concealed the facts in her documents for appointment on this post.
Petitioner also accused her of being involved in Rs 20 million embezzlement of funds while serving in Benazir Income Support Programme. Petitioner said that Abida Parveen Pathan has been appointed by chief minister Sindh on the recommendations of Public Services Commission and pleaded this appointment should be declared unlawful as it didn't meet the required criteria. Petitioner made chief minister Sindh, chief secretary, Public Service Commission and others respondents in the petition. SHC bench directed the respondents to submit their replies by July 25, 2019 after ordering issuance of notices to them.
