The Karachi Port handled 106,567 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,779 tonnes of import cargo and 26,788 tonnes of export cargo including 9,623 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 79,779 tonnes comprised of 60,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,074 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,650 tonnes of canola and 16,427 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 26,788 tonnes comprised of 9,485 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,500 tonnes of bulk cargo clinkers; 1,303 tonnes of wheat and 5,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,623 containers comprising of 5,918 containers import and 3,705 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,448 of 20's and 2,164 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 71 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 392 of 20's and 185 of 40's loaded containers while 545 of 20's and 1,199 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were two ships namely Sagittarius and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Maersk Salina, Sagittarius, APL Le Havre, MT Lahore, Rebecca Schulte and Africa Star carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 128,766 tonnes comprising 92,248 tonnes of import cargo and 36,518 tonnes of export cargo including 2,910 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 92,248 tonnes includes 10,000 tonnes of LNG; 15,018 tonnes of palm oil; 18,655 tonnes of coal; 12,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 10,386 tonnes of chemical; 4,000 tonnes of mogas; 2,917 tonnes of general cargo and 18,772 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,518 tonnes includes 36,518 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,910 containers comprising of 988 containers import and 1,922 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely APL Savannah carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely Los Angles Trader, Ilektra, Chembulk New Orleans, Maistros and Songa Topaz carrying containers, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Ceylon Breeze, Vassos, Kiran America, Basch Hoek, Aeriko, Darlekay, Tagee, Serene Lydia, Bunga Laurel and Fuwarit respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Maersk Bentonville, Darlekay, Serene Lydia, Bunga Laurel and Fuwarit carrying containers, coal, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ships namely Sagittarius and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely Maersk Salina carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
