International Kashan Umar, Hamza Roman, Uzair Khan and Kamran Khan took berth into the semi-final of the Under-14 category part of the ongoing Nazim Peshawar Floodlight Tennis Championship being played here at Synthetic Courts on Friday. In the first quarter-final Kashan Umer defeated Haseeb Ullah by 6-2 and 6-3.
In the second quarter-final former Pakistan No. 1 in U-10 and Under-12 categories Hamza Roman defeated Talha by 6-2, 6-3, Uzair Khan beat Shahsawar Khan by 6-1 and 6-4 and Kamran beat Afzal by 3-6, 6-2 and 6-3 in a marathon three sets battle and all of them moved to the semi-finals. Now Kashan Umar will face Hamza Roman in the first semi-finals and Uzair Khan will face Hamran Khan in the second semi-finals. In the doubles Kashan Umar and Uzair Khan recorded victory against Arsalan Khan and Afzal Khan in another thrilling match lasted for two hours, the score was 3-6, 6-4 and 7-5 (6-6).
The rain also stopped the Men singles semi-final being played between Yousaf Khail and Abbas Khan. Both players one set each. Yousaf won the first set by 7-6 but in response Abbas Khan got the second set by 2-6 when rain halted the match.
Organizing Secretary Umar Ayaz on this occasion said that they have rescheduled all the matches due to heavy rain and it would be played on Saturday under the floodlight facilities if weather would be cleared.
