The next National Anti Polio campaign would start from 22nd April and more than 1.180 million children of five years age would be administered polio vaccine drops in the district during this campaign for which total number of 3298 teams of health department would perform duties in this regard. Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar inaugurated the polio campaign here on Saturday by administering the polio vaccine drops to children.
Expressing his views, the Deputy Commissioner said that the disease of polio would be eliminated from routs through the coordinated efforts and community should also participate actively in this campaign with a view to provide assistance for achieving access on each and every child of five years age.
He directed the health department officers to supervise the polio campaign with high responsibility and team be sent again and again in case non availability of child in home as per record.
He said that wide range awareness campaign be ensured for the information and sensitizing the parents regarding the anti polio campaign. He said that the help of local bodies representatives and NGOs be sought to make the anti polio campaign a success.
He emphasized upon the concerned departments for extending full cooperation to achieve the targets of anti polio campaign.
CEO Health Dr Mushtaq Sapra informed that all necessary arrangements has been finalized for the anti polio campaign. He said that the supervisors, area incharges and the polio teams very much committed to perform duties for the success of the campaign.
DHO Dr Asif Shahzad informed that anti polio campaign would continue by 26th April during which 2725 mobile teams would go door to door while 573 teams had been deployed on different points for administering polio vaccine drops to the children.
ADCR Tariq Niazi, ADC(HQ) Qaisar Abbas, ACs Shumaila Manzur, Nazia Muhal, District Manager Health Management Company Dr Nawazish Goraya, District Coordinated for Epidemic Dr Bilal Ahmad, Chairman Private Schools Alliance Sadaqat Lodhi, other officers and representative of civil society were also present at the anti polio campaign inaugural ceremony.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was also held to pay tribute to Lady Health Worker Firdous Kousar who died in a road accident when she was going back to her home after performing anti polio duty during the last campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family and said that Lady Health Worker Firdous Kousar served the department with commitment and devotion and she laid down her life during duty.
CEO Health Dr Mushtaq Sipra and other officers of health department also paid rich tributes to the services of deceased Lady Health Worker and said that the health department was proud of efficient and devoted staff like Firdous Kousar.
On this occasion the Deputy Commissioner also awarded a shield to the husband of deceased Lady Health Worker. The prayers were also offered for the departed soul of the Lady Health Worker.
