Former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Monday that Opposition is united on the names of election commission members.
He said this while talking to media after PML-N meeting held under the chairmanship of its President Shahbaz Sharif at the PML-N Secretariat. The meeting discussed in detail the country's current political situation and decided to play a role of strong opposition in and outside the parliament. It was also decided to continue establishing contacts with the other opposition parties to firm up joint line of action on current issues.
Abbasi said a committee headed by PPP leader Khurshid Shah has been formed on the issue of election commission members. A committee was also formed on issues pertaining to 2018 general elections and deliberation will be made public.
When asked about the necessity of military courts, he said they had similar point of view about military courts s they had about the NAB. The government should apprise the parliament about military courts extension, he said.
He further said that Imran Khan is neither aware of the 18th amendment nor he has knowledge about the NFC award. "Nobody had sought NRO from Imran Khan nor he is in a position to give NRO," he said. "Time is not far when Imran would himself seek NRO." He said perhaps Speaker National assembly is facing pressure; if NA session is not called, we would submit requisition.
