The 21st Textile Asia 2019 - International Textile, Garments Machinery and Clothing Trade Fair has begun at Karachi Expo Centre (KEC) on Tuesday. Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan are jointly organising the event which will conclude on March 28.
The organisers said that over 1,000 international brands from 27 countries are displaying their products at the 3-day mega trade show. Over 788 booths from 27 countries mainly from Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Turkey, UK, USA, etc make the event more attractive.
Sualeh Farooqui, secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan along with Shaikh Mohammad Shafiq, chairman PRGMEA (South Zone), foreign delegates, Dr Khursheed Nizam, president Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and Uzair Nizam, project director Textile Asia inaugurated the exhibition. "The export of Pakistani readymade garments has increased in the international market. Their prices also rose," TDAP secretary Farooqui said.
He said the event would be beneficial for local textile industry and would help enhance exports as well. He said the display of the modern machinery would also benefit this sector and capacity of those associated with the industry would also be increased.
PRGMEA chairman (Central) Shaikh Mohammad Shafiq said the said trade fair is expected to host more than 2,000 foreign delegates as well as 65,000 visitors from trade and corporate sector. He said focus is value addition in textile industry to raise the export of value-added textile and garment products.
Dr Khursheed Nizam said that 21st Textile Asia is the only UFI (Paris) approved textile trade fair in the South Asia.
"This trade fair showcases immense buying-selling potential of textile, garment and allied industries and is poised to introduce overseas suppliers of textile and garment materials, accessories and parts and machinery to the textile and garment industry of Pakistan," said Uzair Nizam.
