Teaser: ‘Sridevi Bungalow’ makers in legal trouble over resemblance with Sridevi’s life

The viral 'wink girl' Priya Prakash Varrier is making her Bollywood debut with film ‘Sridevi Bungalow’, which is already receiving a lot of flak as the audience feel it is based on actress Sridevi who passed away last year due to accidental drowning.

Ever since the teaser was released, it has become talk of the town. The teaser has Priya in a glamorous avatar and her character is named Sridevi. The teaser shows as a renowned actress, who is living a luxurious life. The teaser ends with showing the death of the actress in a bathtub.

While people were still pointing out the similarities, the makers have received a legal notice from Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor. Director has confirmed the same to Cinestaan.com saying, “We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him [Boney] that Sridevi is a common name. My film's character also happens to be an actress. We will face it [the legal case]”.

While speaking in a press meet, Priya neither accepted nor denied that the movie is on the late actress Sridevi Boney Kapoor. The actress responded that the audience can interpret it in their own way after watching the movie.

Priya became an overnight sensation last year with just her wink in a song from her debut movie ‘Oru Adaar Love’. The actress has overtaken Sunny Leone to become India’s most Googled personality in 2018.
